The third largest city in Arizona behind Phoenix and Tucson. Because of its long east to west distance, locations are often referred to as East Mesa and West Mesa. It is also home to a number of higher education facilities including the Arizona State Polytechnic Campus.
Mesa Grande Cultural Park is home to giant, centuries old ceremonial mound and artifacts of the Hohokam people. The city also has the i.d.e.a. Museum with scientific and hands on artistic exhibits for kids. The Arizona museum of Natural history with archaeological finds and exhibits of dinosaur skeletons, and the Mesa Arts Center presenting theater, musicals, and contemporary art.
